Volunteer Opportunities
Roles & Responsibilities
Volunteers play an important role in organizing and supporting BongMilanti's cultural and community events. Explore the areas below to learn how you can contribute.
Working Together: Volunteers will always work alongside a Director of the Board to ensure streamlined processes and coordination.
Event Organization & Operations
Event Planning and Coordination
- Assist in planning and coordinating events related to Bengali culture, such as Durga Puja.
- Organize logistics, coordinate with vendors and schedule performances.
Setup and Cleanup
- Assist with setting up and cleaning up before and after events.
- Arrange decorations, set up seating, and ensure the venue is clean and organized.
Hospitality
- Welcome guests, provide information about the organization, and assist with questions or concerns.
- Help serve food and beverages, direct attendees to different event areas, and ensure a positive guest experience.
Culture, Creativity & Outreach
Marketing and Promotion
- Promote BongMilanti events through social media, flyers, and other channels.
- Create promotional materials, reach out to local media outlets, and engage with the community.
Cultural Programming
- Volunteers with skills or interests in Bengali culture may lead workshops, performances, or activities.
- Activities may include traditional dance, music, language lessons, or cultural demonstrations.
Photography and Videography
- Capture memorable moments through photographs and videos of performances, activities, and attendees.
- Help create promotional materials and preserve the cultural experience for future generations.
Partnerships & Vendor Management
Fundraising and Sponsorship
- Assist with fundraising efforts, including seeking sponsorships from local businesses and individuals.
- Reach out to potential donors, organize fundraising events, and maintain sponsor relationships.
Vendor Coordination & Management
- Work closely with vendors providing food and merchandise stalls at BongMilanti events.
- Communicate event details and guidelines, secure vendor participation, and collect required paperwork, including permits and licenses.
- Oversee vendor setup and help ensure stalls comply with event regulations.
- Assign stall locations, monitor vendor activities, and address issues or concerns.
Payment Processing
- Assist with vendor payments and transactions during events.
- Coordinate cash handling, provide change, and help ensure timely vendor payments.
Community Experience & Safety
Customer Service
- Serve as a point of contact for vendors and customers.
- Address questions, resolve disputes, provide event schedule information, and support a positive experience.
Feedback Collection
- Gather feedback from vendors after events to evaluate their experiences and identify improvements.
- Help BongMilanti improve future events and maintain positive vendor relationships.
Compliance and Safety
- Help ensure vendors follow health and safety regulations and event guidelines.
- Assist with stall inspections, monitor food handling practices, and promptly address or report safety concerns.
