About Us
BongMilanti (Metro Vancouver Bengali Cultural Association) was established as a Not-for-profit organization under the BC Societies Act, on June 28, 2023, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are a non-political organization.
BongMilanti is a platform for all Bengalis living in Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area to share their culture, stories, views and ideas to connect with each other and simply have fun.
The main tenets of the organization are as follows:
BUILD a not-for-profit society to promote culture & heritage mainly for Bengali-speaking community descendants from both India & Bangladesh in the lower mainland Vancouver area. Promoting the younger generation to their ancestral roots through social gatherings, festivals, movies, arts, literature, public speaking, and day-to-day life assistance to newcomers like Immigration, Jobs, Accommodation, etc.
ORGANIZE cultural events including (but not limited to) Bengali and other Indian traditional and contemporary songs, drama, and dances. We are inclusive, beyond borders, and fostering other communities as well to be part of Canada’s multicultural diverse society. Our event offers great opportunities to develop a taste of rich and diverse Indian festivals, literature, music, and arts.
PLAN AND HOST periodic workshops, seminars, and meetings to allow adults, seniors, and kids (but not limited to) to network, learn, and share experiences for personal and career development.
ORGANIZE events to raise funds for the relief of distress and other charitable causes.
